Description
This class teaches the basics of threading a sewing machine and sewing. Students will practice sewing straight and curved lines. Students complete sewing projects outlined below. Students need a sewing machine and materials for the project.
Classes are one hour long and meet for 4 weeks.
Tuesdays: 4:30-5:30PM
Nov/Dec 11/5, 11/19, 12/3, 12/10
Wednesdays: 2:15-3:15PM NEW
Nov/Dec 11/6, 11/20, 12/4, 12/11
Thursdays: 1:00PM-2:00PM
Nov/Dec 11/7, 11/21, 12/5, 12/12
Class fee does NOT include use of a sewing machine or the materials & supplies. (There are links at the end of the listing to add sewing machine rental or materials.)
Sewing Projects:
November: Scarf/Neck Warmer
Materials: 2 coordinating pieces of fleece or flannel that are 9×25″ (or 0.25 yards of fabric total)
December: Holiday Gift Bag
Materials: 2 fat quarters of coordinating fabrics, 0.5 yards of light weight fusible interfacing, 1 yard cord or narrow ribbon 3/8-5/8″ wide (for drawstring)

Sewing Machine (with power cord, foot pedal, presser foot, bobbins & needles)
Thread to match project
Hand Sewing Needles
Pins
Chalk or Fabric Marking Pen (light blue or silver is recommended)
Seam ripper
Ruler or Measuring Tape
Fabric Scissors
Materials & Supplies for project (please pre-wash all fabrics)
Thread Snipper or Small Scissors (optional)
Notebook for taking notes (optional)
Supply Fee includes materials and thread, plus use of pins, needles, and scissors in class $10/term.
Sewing Machines can be rented for $10/term.
